DESEAN WATSON

HOUSTON TEXANS

DESHAUN WATSON (ADP: #39 Overall)

OL Ranking: 19th

OWs: B. Cooks, W. Fuller V, D. Johnson, D. Johnson, R. Cobb, K. Stills, J. Akins, D. Fells

Latest Stats (2019, 15 games):
3852 pass yds | 26 pass TDs | 413 rush yds | 7 rush TDs

Week 1 vs Kansas City
Kansas City gave up the 12th fewest fantasy points to Quarterbacks last season. More »

Sat, Aug 15
Houston Chronicle’s John McClain reports the Texans are “hoping” to sign Deshaun Watson to a long-term contract before the 2020 season.

Advice: Negotiations have been on-going, but nothing has been particularly close yet. That could change over the next week, especially after the quarterback market was reset following Patrick Mahomes’ record-breaking contract. On top of figuring out the annual salary, Watson and the Texans have to agree on how many years the extension will be. Watson likely wants a shorter contract to maximize his career earnings. Houston obviously wants to keep their star quarterback in the building for as long as possible. For fantasy purposes, Watson is locked into the top six and deserves to be drafted somewhere between the sixth and seventh round. He lost DeAndre Hopkins but gained Brandin Cooks and David Johnson over the offseason. Treat Watson as a low-end QB1 with episodic pops.

#4
DAK PRESCOTT

DALLAS COWBOYS

DAK PRESCOTT (ADP: #43 Overall)

OL Ranking: 3rd

OWs: A. Cooper, M. Gallup, C. Lamb, B. Jarwin, E. Elliott, T. Pollard

Latest Stats (2019): 4902 pass yds | 30 pass TDs | 277 rush yds | 3 rush TDs

Week 1 vs Los Angeles: Los Angeles gave up the 13th fewest fantasy points to QBs in 2019.

Fri, Aug 14: Dak Prescott is “optimistic” he’ll reach a long-term deal with the Cowboys after the season.

Advice: The Cowboys were never close in offseason talks — Prescott wanted less years and more money than Dallas offered. It’s still surprising Prescott’s agent didn’t lock down a deal. The Cowboys drafted CeeDee Lamb and added an improved support cast, but it’s going to be hard for Prescott to build off the 306 YPG he averaged in 2019. We’d expect Prescott’s extension to get done after this year — a step back or injury would potentially complicate things. The Cowboys can franchise Prescott a second time for $38 million — a 20 percent increase from this year’s tag.

#5
KYLER MURRAY

ARIZONA CARDINALS

KYLER MURRAY (ADP: #50 Overall)

OL Ranking: 21st

OWs: D. Hopkins, K. Drake, C. Kirk, L. Fitzgerald, A. Isabella, M. Williams, H. Butler, C. Edmonds, E. Benjamin

Latest Stats (2019, 16 games):
3722 pass yds | 20 pass TDs | 544 rush yds | 4 rush TDs

Week 1 vs San Francisco
San Francisco gave up the 7th fewest fantasy points to Quarterbacks last season. More »

Thu, Aug 13
Kyler Murray “bulked up” over the offseason.

Advice: “He’s definitely bulked up and that’ll be good for him, especially in this league,” was teammate Chandler Jones’ exact quote. “There is no quarterback that goes through games without being sacked. That’s just the way it goes. When he has a little more meat on his bones, he can take hits.” Murray, of course, took a league-worse 48 sacks as a rookie. Murray said he did not consciously try to get bigger this offseason. “I just think it’s the maturation of getting older, working out. It just happened.” Murray did not attach a number to his gain. Coach Kliff Kingsbury has raved about Murray’s second-year comfort in his system. Murray offers massive upside at his ADP, which is currently in the QB6-8 range. Expect him to have a similar year and finish in the QB6-14 range.

#6
RUSSELL WILSON

SEATTLE SEAHAWKS

RUSSELL WILSON (ADP: #51 Overall)

OL Ranking: 28th

OWs: T. Lockett, D. Metcalf, C. Carson, G. Olsen, C. Hyde, W. Dissly, P. Dorsett II, J. Hollister

Latest Stats (2019, 16 games):
4110 pass yds | 31 pass TDs | 342 rush yds | 3 rush TDs

Week 1 vs Atlanta
Atlanta gave up the 10th most fantasy points to Quarterbacks last season. More »

Thu, Aug 15
Seahawks QB Russell Wilson said the offense should be more aggressive this season and “treat every quarter like the fourth quarter.”

Advice: Wilson has officially given his blessing to the Let Russ Cook sentiment among Seattle fans and football fans who enjoy big plays and touchdowns. There’s no indication hyper-conservative Seahawks OC Brian Schottenheimer will open up his offense and stop limiting Mr. Unlimited. The dual threat Wilson would be a fantasy football fever dream in a more pass-heavy scheme. We can dream. It will be tough to top last year’s performance but feel confident firing him up as your QB1 week-in and week-out.

#7
JOSH ALLEN

BUFFALO BILLS

JOSH ALLEN (ADP: #68 Overall)

OL Ranking: 18th

OWs: J. Brown, S. Diggs, D. Singletary, C. Beasley, D. Knox, Z. Moss, G. Davis

Latest Stats (2019, 16 games):
3089 pass yds | 20 pass TDs | 510 rush yds | 9 rush TDs

Week 1 vs New York
New York gave up the 15th fewest fantasy points to Quarterbacks last season. More »

Wed, Aug 19
Bills QB Josh Allen struggled during Tuesday’s practice, often staring down his receivers and having multiple passes broken up or intercepted.

Advice: Allen wasn’t “on the same page” with his wideouts, holding “onto the ball in the pocket, hoping for the expected routes to come open,” according to The Athletic. Allen twice felt pressure and threw passes over the middle that were “nowhere close” to John Brown. It’s a very different account than Cole Beasley saying this week that Allen was “throwing guys open.” Allen’s inaccuracy and erratic play don’t really matter for fantasy purposes as long as he continues to flee to the pocket and pile up rushing yards and touchdowns.

#8
DREW BREES

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS

DREW BREES (ADP: #72 Overall)

OL Ranking: 2nd

OWs: M. Thomas, A. Kamara, J. Cook, E. Sanders, D. Harris, L. Murray, T. Smith, J. Hill, A. Trautman

Latest Stats (2019, 11 games):
2979 pass yds | 27 pass TDs | -4 rush yds | 1 rush TDs

Week 1 vs Tampa Bay
Tampa Bay gave up the 6th most fantasy points to Quarterbacks last season. More »

Advice: After adding Emmanuel Sanders this offseason expect more of the same out of Drew Brees in 2020.

#9
MATT RYAN

ATLANTA FALCONS

MATT RYAN (ADP: #76 Overall)

OL Ranking: 24th

OWs: J. Jones, C. Ridley, T. Gurley II, H. Hurst, R. Gage, I. Smith, Q. Ollison

Latest Stats (2019, 15 games):
4466 pass yds | 26 pass TDs | 147 rush yds | 1 rush TDs

Week 1 vs Seattle
Seattle gave up the 17th most fantasy points to Quarterbacks last season. More »

Thu, Aug 20
Observations from the Falcons’ first scrimmage (AtlantaJournalConstitution)

Advice: Tee him up for more of the same, with an element of risk coming from the heavy dependence of this offense on Julio Jones.

#10
AARON RODGERS

GREEN BAY PACKERS

AARON RODGERS (ADP: #77 Overall)

OL Ranking: 4th

OWs: D. Adams, A. Jones, A. Lazard, J. Sternberger, A. Dillon, J. Williams, M. Valdes-Scantling, J. Deguara

Latest Stats (2019, 16 games):
4002 pass yds | 26 pass TDs | 183 rush yds | 1 rush TDs

Week 1 vs Minnesota
Minnesota gave up the 8th fewest fantasy points to Quarterbacks last season. More »

Advice: Play it agin.

#11
CARSON WENTZ

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES

CARSON WENTZ (ADP: #81 Overall)

OL Ranking: 10th

OWs: M. Sanders, J. Reagor, Z. Ertz, D. Goedert, B. Scott, D. Jackson, A. Jeffery, J. Arcega-Whiteside, G. Ward

Latest Stats (2019, 16 games):
4039 pass yds | 27 pass TDs | 243 rush yds | 1 rush TDs

Week 1 vs Washington
Washington gave up the 8th most fantasy points to Quarterbacks last season. More »

Advice: Expect Wentz to finish between QB6-16 this year.

#12
TOM BRADY

TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS

TOM BRADY (ADP: #85 Overall)

OL Ranking: 13th

OWs: C. Godwin, M. Evans, R. Gronkowski, O. Howard, T. Johnson, C. Brate, L. McCoy, S. Miller, K. Vaughn, J. Watson

Latest Stats (2019, 16 games [Patriots]):
4057 pass yds | 24 pass TDs | 34 rush yds | 3 rush TDs

Week 1 vs New Orleans
New Orleans gave up the 12th most fantasy points to Quarterbacks last season. More »

Thu, Aug 20
Bucs TE Rob Gronkowski said Tom Brady’s arm might be stronger than it was when Gronkowski entered the NFL in 2010.

Advice: Gronk’s comment echoes what TE Cameron Brate said this week about the strength of 43-year-old Brady’s arm. Maybe it’s the TB12 system. We’re looking into it. Brady is being drafted in the eighth round, as the ninth quarterback off the board, surrounded by the best cast of pass catchers of his career. Moving from New England to Tampa Bay should lead to more fantasy production in 2020. Draft Brady as a QB1/2 who could have the year of his life.

#13
BAKER MAYFIELD

CLEVELAND BROWNS

BAKER MAYFIELD (ADP: #101 Overall)

OL Ranking: 6th

OWs: O. Beckham Jr., N. Chubb, J. Landry, A. Hooper, K. Hunt, D. Njoku, H. Bryant, D. Peoples-Jones

Latest Stats (2019, 16 games):
3827 pass yds | 22 pass TDs | 141 rush yds | 3 rush TDs

OL Ranking: 16th

OWs: K. Golladay, D. Swift, T. Hockenson, M. Jones Jr., K. Johnson, D. Amendola, Q. Cephus

Latest Stats (2019, 8 games):
2499 pass yds | 19 pass TDs | 66 rush yds | 0 rush TDs

Week 1 vs Chicago
Chicago gave up the 6th fewest fantasy points to Quarterbacks last season. More »

Advice: A full slate would have put Stafford in the top tier of QBs last year. Draft Stafford as a bounce-back QB1/2.

#15
DANIEL JONES

NEW YORK GIANTS

DANIEL JONES (ADP: #105 Overall)

OL Ranking: 20th

OWs: S. Barkley, D. Slayton, E. Engram, G. Tate, S. Shepard

JOE BURROW

CINCINNATI BENGALS

JOE BURROW (ADP: #114 Overall)

OL Ranking: 31st

OWs: J. Mixon, T. Boyd, A. Green, J. Ross III, T. Higgins, A. Tate, C. Uzomah, G. Bernard

Latest Stats (2019, 15 games [LSU]):
5671 pass yds | 60 pass TDs | 368 rush yds | 5 rush TDs

Week 1 vs Los Angeles
Los Angeles gave up the 4th fewest fantasy points to Quarterbacks last season. More »

Advice: Surrounded by a talented group of weapons and an improved OL, Joe Burrow should have his ups and downs this year but there’s a lot to like. He can be drafted as a QB2 with Andrew Luck upside.

#17
JARED GOFF

LOS ANGELES RAMS

JARED GOFF (ADP: #115 Overall)

OL Ranking: 25th

OWs: C. Kupp, R. Woods, C. Akers, D. Henderson Jr., T. Higbee, G. Everett, V. Jefferson Jr., J. Reynolds

4638 pass yds | 32 pass TDs | 40 rush yds | 2 rush TDs

Week 1 vs Dallas
Dallas gave up the 9th fewest fantasy points to Quarterbacks last season. More »

Advice: There maybe some regression following the departure of Brandin Cooks, but he can be relied on as a stable QB1/2.

#18
RYAN TANNEHILL

TENNESSEE TITANS

RYAN TANNEHILL (ADP: #122 Overall)

OL Ranking: 15th

OWs: D. Henry, A. Brown, J. Smith, C. Davis, D. Evans, A. Humphries

2742 pass yds | 22 pass TDs | 185 rush yds | 4 rush TDs

Week 1 vs Denver
Denver gave up the 11th fewest fantasy points to Quarterbacks last season. More »

BEN ROETHLISBERGER (ADP: #123 Overall)

OL Ranking: 9th

OWs: J. Smith-Schuster, J. Conner, D. Johnson, E. Ebron, J. Washington, C. Claypool, V. McDonald, J. Samuels, A. McFarland Jr.

5129 pass yds | 34 pass TDs | 98 rush yds | 3 rush TDs

Week 1 vs New York
New York gave up the 5th most fantasy points to Quarterbacks last season. More »

Tue, Aug 18
The Athletic’s Mark Kaboly reports that though Ben Roethlisberger is throwing with some “nice velocity,” he appeared to be “short-arming” some passes in Monday’s practice.

Advice: Kaboly noticed it “especially later in practice” on deep balls. “I would say that a good bit of his throw was a motion with which he did not follow through completely,” Kaboly observed. “It was sort of like a whip action. It reminded me a bit of Philip Rivers’ delivery.” That certainly would not be an ideal development for Roethlisberger on deep balls. Kaboly stressed that it was only a few deep passes in one practice, but he did come away concerned. Headed into his age-38 campaign coming off a season where he tore three elbow tendons, Roethlisberger is a wild card after passing for the seventh most yards in NFL history in 2018.

#20
JIMMY GAROPPOLO

SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS

JIMMY GAROPPOLO (ADP: #127 Overall)

#22

DENVER BRONCOS

DREW LOCK (ADP: #142 Overall)

INDIANAPOLIS COLTS

OL Ranking: 32nd

OWs: D. Parker, J. Howard, M. Gesicki, M. Breida, P. Williams, J. Grant

Latest Stats (2019, 9 games [Alabama]):
2840 pass yds | 33 pass TDs | 17 rush yds | 2 rush TDs

Week 1 vs New England
New England gave up the 2nd fewest fantasy points to Quarterbacks last season. More »

Advice: The Miami Herald’s Dolphins beat writers reported the rookie has displayed “fleeting flashes of the skills that made him one of the best college quarterbacks of his generation” during practice, manipulating defenders on run-pass options. It’s more good news after lingering concerns about the quarterback’s recovery from surgery. Tua has been accurate in camp, though most of is throws have been short, according to the Herald beat writers.

#25

CAROLINA PANTHERS

TEDDY BRIDGEWATER (ADP: #155 Overall)

Week 1 vs Buffalo
Buffalo gave up the fewest fantasy points to Quarterbacks last season. More »

Sun, Aug 16
New York Daily News’ Charles McDonald says that Sam Darnold looks “like a franchise quarterback.”

Advice: Breshad Perriman, who the team signed in free agency, was on the receiving end of a dime from Darnold in practice. He noted that “The touch he has on the ball is unreal.” Jets coach Adam Gase pointed out how fast Darnold was moving and calling plays out. Darnold improved on his rookie season in 2019, completing 61.9% of his passes and throwing two extra scores with fewer interceptions. Only 23 years old, the Jets are counting on Darnold’s continued progression to raise the franchise from its recent mediocrity. (yahoo)

LAS VEGAS RAIDERS

DEREK CARR
