I think that Rye really gets short schrift in the whiskey world it’s often overshadowed by it’s more famous cousin bourbon. But without rye, which is America’s first whiskey, Bourbon likely wouldn’t exist.

When it comes to cocktails, bourbon again overshadows Rye at almost every turn. Even cocktails traditionally made with Rye such as the old fashioned and Manhattan can be more often found with a bourbon base these days. I don’t think we give this complex whiskey enough play, but that is slowly beginning to change. So today, we’re doing a few simple, refreshing hot weather drinks featuring Rye! Let’s get into it!
