Today’s gin cocktail is perfect for Valentine’s Day – the Juliet & Romeo! An original recipe created by Toby Maloney in 2007, this has been a Valentine’s go-to of mine ever since. Juliet & Romeo Cocktail Recipe
THE JULIET & ROMEO RECIPE
- 2 oz. (60 ml) Beefeater London Dry Gin
- 3/4 oz. (22.5 ml) fresh lime juice
- 3/4 oz. (22.5 ml) simple syrup (1:1 sugar:water)
- 4 drops rose water (1 drop for garnish) optional
- .25-.5 oz aquafaba (see notes below)*
- 3 slices of cucumber
- Small pinch of salt
- Sprig of mint
- 3 drops Angostura Bitters
- Mint leaf with rose water, and bitters for garnish
*NOTES – THE FOAM IS A BIT TRICKY
Due to this cocktail not having an emulsifier, getting that foam on top seems to be a bit hit or miss. My theory is that it depends on the cucumber. To solve this issue, adding .25-.5 oz of aquafaba will help ensure a foam on top, onto which you can place your bitters.
