Allen, J. – Buf (QB)

NFL players who don’t get the COVID-19 vaccine will be required to stay in town during their team’s bye week and be tested for the virus every day. (5/31) Advice: NBC Sports’ Peter King reported on an unspecified team that had 65 of its 90 players vaccinated against COVID. That team would need another dozen players to get the jab before they can return to pre-COVID meeting and practice schedules. NFL teams with vaccination rates below 85 percent will have to keep running practices and meetings like they did in 2020. The Bills have become the most prominent vaccine-skeptical team, as Josh Allen and Cole Beasley have said they need to do more “research” before they sign up for the vaccine. Teams that can revert to pre-COVID practices will have distinct advantages over those who can’t. (ProFootballTalk.com via NBCSportsEdge.com)

Khalil Herbert Highlights

Virginia Tech RB Khalil Herbert
Senior 5’9 212 lbs

Khalil Herbert had a flashy run at Kansas before bursting onto the scene in a breakout campaign at Virginia Tech in 2020. In 11 games in 2020, Herbert logged 165 touches from scrimmage, tallying 1,362 yards with nine touchdowns. Herbert is a disciplined runner that plays within himself, has good vision, takes excellent angles, has good contact balance, and is a smooth operator.

Trump’s Wild, Baseless Claims of Illegal Voting

In remarks resembling an attack on democratic elections, rather than a presidential speech, President Donald Trump doubled down on his campaign pledge: “The only way we can lose, in my opinion, is massive fraud.”

Pentagon wades into political minefield in hunt for extremists

The Pentagon is launching an unprecedented campaign to root out extremists in the ranks after dozens of military veterans took part in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

But confronting white nationalism and other far-right ideologies is proving to be a political minefield for an institution that prides itself on staying out of the nation’s partisan wars. There’s a growing sense of anxiety within the Pentagon that this push could feed the perception that it is policing political thought, favoring one political party over another or muzzling free speech.

Kenneth Gainwell Highlights

Memphis RB Kenneth Gainwell
Sophomore 5’11 191 lbs

From Alabama RB Najee Harris to Clemson’s Travis Etienne and UNC’s JaVonte Williams, the 2021 NFL Draft has some really good running backs. A player people have forgotten about is Memphis RB Kenneth Gainwell, who opted out of the 2020 season. As a redshirt Freshman in 2019, Gainwell had one of the best seasons all-purpose wise. He rushed for 1,459 yards & had 610 yards receiving with 16 TDs. He had over 2,000 yards total.

Gainwell is a dual-threat playmaker who is nasty with the ball in his hands. He makes people miss with ease. He is the perfect back for today’s NFL.

Washington Football Team Teases New Nickname, Rebrand for 2022 NFL Season

The Washington Football Team won’t change its name until the 2022 season, but the process will be documented through the newly launched site WashingtonJourney.com.

“We’ve transitioned from our old name. Now it’s time to write a new legacy,” the site states. “The future of Washington Football arrives in 2022.”

Trump VS The US Free Press

Are Donald Trump’s relentless attacks on the free press an assault on American democracy? Many American’s think so.

McCarthy starts hedging on Trump’s culpability for Jan. 6 attack

For months, Republicans and their allies have struggled to find someone politically satisfying to blame for the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol. For a brief period, many in the GOP liked the idea of blaming Antifa, which didn’t make any sense. Some conservatives also tried blaming the FBI, which also didn’t work.

Much of the party has become heavily invested in blaming House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), though the claims struggled under scrutiny. Yesterday, the blame game was extended to those who protested Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation in 2018, though I’ll confess to being somewhat baffled by the argument.

Of course, Republicans could hold Donald Trump and his most rabid followers responsible for their own actions, though it’s obviously a sensible step most of the party will not take.

DeVonta Smith Highlights

Alabama WR DeVonta Smith
Senior 6’1 175 lbs

Alabama WR DeVonta Smith had one of the best seasons in college football history. Smith caught 117 passes for 1,856 yards & scored 25 total TDs. He became the first receiver to win the Heisman since Desmond Howard in 1991.

Either Smith or LSU’s Ja’Marr Chase will be the 1st WR taken in the 2021 NFL Draft. As a prospect, he may not have the speed that Henry Ruggs & Jaylen Waddle have nor the flashiness Jerry Jeudy has, Alabama WR DeVonta Smith might be the best overall receiver from that loaded Alabama receiving core.

Ted Cruz implies the US military is too ‘woke’ and ’emasculated’ to compete with Russia

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz called the US military “woke” and “emasculated” compared to Russia’s military in a tweet on Thursday.

Cruz based his criticism on a TikTok video comparing a Russian recruitment ad with a US Army commercial. While Russia’s ad featured moody lighting and buff, shirtless men writhing in the dirt, the US Army clip offered an animated telling of the life of US Army Corporal Emma Malonelord, who was raised by a lesbian couple in San Francisco.

Cruz’s office did not immediately respond to Insider’s request for additional comment on the tweet.

Trump Decries “Cancel Culture,” Calls On Republicans to Boycott More Companies

Former President Donald Trump said “cancel culture” has run amok, so Republicans better start making their own cancelations. Trump issued a bitter message Saturday in which he stoked divisions over Georgia’s restrictive new voting law. It came a day after he urged a boycott of “woke companies,” including Major League Baseball for moving its All-Star Game out of Georgia. He later expanded the list of companies that he says supporters should boycott for opposing Georgia’s voting restrictions.

Obama congratulates MLB for ‘taking a stand’ against Georgia election law as Trump calls for boycott

Former Presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump have weighed in on Major League Baseball’s decision to move its All-Star Game out of Atlanta in response to Georgia’s new sweeping election law that imposes significant new obstacles to voting.

Obama on Saturday congratulated the league “for taking a stand on behalf of voting rights for all citizens,” following MLB’s Friday announcement. The Democrat’s tweeted support of the move struck a starkly different tone from his Republican successor’s statement late Friday that called for a boycott of baseball and all of the “woke companies that are interfering with Free and Fair Elections.”
