It’s Not About Trump, the My Pillow Guy, or the Insurrectionists. It’s About the Money.

Jane Mayer of The New Yorker, indefatigable dark-money gumshoe, has made another major bust, this time in the area of The Big Lie and the lushly financed ratfcking infrastructure of the American right. She begins with the extended farce that is dragging on in Arizona, largely because it has been designed to drag on in Arizona, and elsewhere. She points to Patrick Byrne, the founder of Overstock.com, as one of the major sugar daddies behind this particular exercise in weaponized futility. But Mayer also emphasizes the fact that the entire conservative dark-money machine has been turned away from some of its traditional purposes and put behind a national effort not only to suppress the franchise, but also to delegitimize the electoral process itself. One engine supplies the power to the other.

Poke For The People

Great food, nice staff, and call ahead ordering available. The Keiki option is great for my toddler, the adults enjoyed their poke bowls, and the fish is fresh. When calling ahead, ask about their specials too. During the pandemic, the North Shore has been less populated with tourists. Though this may be nice for us locals, it does take away a giant portion of clientele from the eateries out here. So, please consider supporting local businesses!

Disturbing new details in alleged plot to kidnap Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer

There is new and disturbing information in the alleged militia plot against the governor of Michigan.

The 14 men charged had far more violent plans than just a kidnapping, according to federal and state authorities.

New filings claim there was a Plan B the militiamen had drawn up, that involved a takeover of the Michigan capitol building by 200 combatants who would stage a week-long series of televised executions of public officials.

And, according to government documents now on file in lower Michigan court, there was also a Plan C — burning down the state house, leaving no survivors.

Lawmaker Who Survived Jonestown Massacre Compares Trump To Jim Jones

Rep. Jackie Speier (D-Calif.), who survived the Jonestown massacre more than 40 years ago, compared former President Donald Trump to the late cult leader Jim Jones on Sunday.

“There’s no question that you could compare Jim Jones as a charismatic leader who would bring his congregation together, force them to do things that were illegal, and then took 900 of them into the jungles of Guyana where, over the course of time, he then convinced them that they should die. I’ve never been able to say they committed suicide because I don’t think they were in control of their faculties, to be quite honest with you,” Speier told CNN’s Brian Stelter. “So you look at Donald Trump, charismatic leader, who was able to continue to talk in terms that appeal to those who are disaffected, disillusioned, and who were looking for something.”

Fantasy Football: Can Clyde Edwards-Helaire still be Andy Reid’s next great RB?

The Chiefs met just about every 2020 preseason expectation laid out for them besides their obvious trip up against the Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV. Regular season record of 14-2? That’ll work. Two relatively easy AFC playoff wins? Check. First-team All Pro campaigns for Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill to go along with another MVP-worthy season from Patrick Mahomes? You bet.

For everyone other than the most devout Sammy Watkins and Mecole Hardman truthers, the only real “disappointment” for the 2020 Chiefs was the production of first-round RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire. This isn’t to suggest that CEH was bad: 1,100 total yards from scrimmage and five trips to the end zone in 13 games is good. However, the man boasted an average draft position as the PPR RB5 in fantasy land by the time last season eventually came around.

FORMER REP. KATIE HILL SUES EX FOR REVENGE PORN … Says It Forced Her to Resign

Former U.S. Congresswoman Katie Hill is taking her ex-husband to court, claiming he’s behind the leak of private photos and messages … which, she says, ultimately sunk her political career.

The ex-Rep. from California filed suit Tuesday against Kenny Heslep — who she recently divorced — for what she says was a years-long campaign of making her life miserable … up to and including the moment she stepped down from her post last year amid scandal.

Som Tam

Green Papaya Salad (Som Tam) is a light, fresh, colorful salad that embodies the flavors of Northeastern Thailand. All of the ingredients are pounded together in a mortar and pestle which helps to develop the sour, savory, and spicy flavors. Once you taste this flavorful dish, it’s easy to see why it’s so well loved!

Beer Lab HI

Just as awesome as the one on University. Staff is beyond helpful and friendly. Excellent selection of beer to choose from and plenty of seating. Wasn’t very crowded for a Sunday afternoon. Will stop again when I’m near this mall.

We’ve Unmasked the Oath Keepers’ January 6 “Operations Leader”

When members of the far-right militia network known as the Oath Keepers stormed the US Capitol on January 6, they were supposed to be under the command of a 37-year-old Black man from a poor neighborhood in Indianapolis—who says he doesn’t support Donald Trump. That man is Michael Simmons, an Army veteran who served in the Iraq War, and who currently faces the possibility of federal charges for his actions on January 6.

Trump doubles down on false election claims in Arizona

Former President Trump doubled down on his baseless claims surrounding the 2020 election during a rally in Arizona over the weekend. His remarks came on the heels of an Associated Press investigation that identified fewer than 200 cases of potential voter fraud from the presidential election in the state, where President Biden defeated Mr. Trump by more than 10,000 votes. Jim Nintzel, executive editor of the Tucson Weekly, joins CBSN to discuss.
