A Bees Knees (or Bee’s Knees) is a Prohibition Era cocktail made with Gin, fresh lemon juice, and honey. It is served shaken and chilled, often with a lemon twist.

The name comes from prohibition-era slang meaning “the best.”

Ingredients

  1. GIN
    60 ml | 2 oz | 8 parts | 1 1/3 jiggers

  2. LEMON JUICE
    22.5 ml | 3/4 oz | 3 parts | 1/2 jiggers

  3. HONEY
    22.5 ml | 3/4 oz | 3 parts | 1/2 jiggers

Garnish

  1. Lemon Peel

Directions

Shake with ice and strain into a chilled large cocktail glass

Alcohol: Gin

Mix: Lemon Juice, Honey

Garnish: Lemon Peel

Drinkware: Cocktail glass

Served: Straight up; without ice
