This cocktail is a variation of a Kiwki Sour and is almost identical. However, Kevin Chan, the creator of this cocktail, tones down the sour components and adds Midori melon liqueur. This adjustment not only adds some sweetness but also adds the flavours of musk melon to the kiwi. The Kiwi Kick is well-balanced and easy to drink. Try it out, and let me know what you think.

KIWI KICK

Half a Diced Kiwi
1.5 oz/45 ml White Rum
.5 oz/15 ml Midori
.5 oz/15 ml Lime Juice
.5 oz/15 ml Simple Syrup *
1 Egg White

Method

1. Cut, peel, and dice half a kiwi and add it to the shaker.
2. Muddle the kiwi thoughtfully.
3. Add the remaining ingredients.
4. Shake with three ice cubes, very hard for 10-15 seconds.
5. Double strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice.
6. Garnish with a slice of kiwi.

8 oz/240 g Sugar
8 oz/240 ml Water

Method

1. Combine the sugar and water in a medium sauce pan on the stove.
2. Gradually heat until the sugar is full dissolved into the water.
3. Allow to cool and then add to a clean bottle.
4. Store in the refrigerator for use.
