Zombie Cocktail

The Zombie is a cocktail made of fruit juices, liqueurs, and various rums. It first appeared in late 1934, invented by Donn Beach at his Hollywood Don the Beachcomber restaurant.[1][2] It was popularized on the East coast soon afterwards at the 1939 New York World’s Fair.

Ingredients

  1. PUERTO RICAN GOLDEN RUM

    90 ml | 1 1/2 oz | 6 parts | 1 jiggers

  2. JAMAICAN RUM

    90 ml | 1 1/2 oz | 6 parts | 1 jiggers

  3. DEMERARA 151 RUM

    60 ml | 1 oz | 4 parts | 2/3 jiggers

  4. DONN’S MIX (2:1 mix of grapefruit juice & cinnamon syrup)

    30 ml | 1/2 oz | 2 parts | 1/3 jiggers

  5. VELVET FALERNUM

    30 ml | 1/2 oz | 2 parts | 1/3 jiggers

  6. LIME JUICE

    22.5 ml | 3/4 oz | 3 parts | 1/2 jiggers

  7. GRENADINE

    7.5 ml | 1/4 oz | 1 parts | 1/6 jiggers

  8. ABSINTHE

    2 dashes

  9. ANGOSTURA BITTERS

    1 dash

Garnish

  1. Mint Sprig


Directions

Mix ingredients in a shaker with ice. Pour into tiki mug filled with crushed ice.

Alcohol: Rum (x3)

Mix: Donn’s Mix, Velvet Falernum, Lime Juice, Grenadine, Absinthe, Angostura Bitters

Garnish: Mint Sprig

Drinkware: Zombie Glass

Served: On the rocks; poured over ice
