Given how much we love Nashville Hot Chicken and the popularity of our Nashville Hot Chicken video on this channel, we had to try this method on Turkey. In true Meat Church Fashion we take this recipe a step further by smoking the turkey and then frying it so we get that smoky, crunch, best of both worlds. Smoke Fried Turkey, AKA SmoFried Turkey is awesome!

This maple bourbon turkey utilizes a tasty, wet brine to impart serious moisture and amazing flavor into turkey while creating a gorgeous final product with beautiful color. You can prepare this as a traditional turkey, but I prefer to spatchcock my turkeys. A spatchcock turkey cooks more evenly than a traditional whole turkey plus it presents beautifully and is easier to carve! We use our southwestern sweet heat rub, Texas Sugar, in this recipe but you can substitute your favorite seasoning.

I did a Smoked Fried Turkey – or Smo Fried Turkey. First I brined a whole turkey, smoked it with pecan wood half the way, and then deep fried it in peanut oil for the last step to get a juicy, smoked turkey with a crispy turkey skin.
