Basal cell carcinomas (BCCs) are a type of skin cancer that typically grows slowly and rarely spreads to other parts of the body. They are generally considered to be less dangerous than other types of skin cancer, such as melanoma.
However, if left untreated, BCCs can continue to grow and invade nearby tissues, causing damage to surrounding structures such as nerves and blood vessels. In rare cases, BCCs can also spread to other parts of the body, including internal organs, which can be life-threatening.
Therefore, while BCCs are generally considered to be less dangerous than other types of skin cancer, it is still important to seek prompt medical attention if you notice any unusual changes in your skin, such as a new growth, a sore that doesn’t heal, or a change in the appearance of an existing mole or spot. Early detection and treatment can help to prevent the cancer from spreading and potentially causing more serious health problems.
