Let’s get rum drunk.
A classic gin cocktail made with gin, maraschino liqueur, lemon juice and crème de violette, garnished with a lemon twist.
These cocktails vary greatly in terms of ingredients, preparation, and flavor profiles, but all utilize gin as the base spirit. Some are classics that have been enjoyed for generations, while others are modern twists on the traditional gin cocktail. Regardless of the specific recipe, gin cocktails offer a wide range of delicious and refreshing options for any occasion.
Mezcal with maple syrup, lemon juice, and bitter chocolate bitters for a smoky, sweet and sour flavor.
Mezcal is a type of spirit that is traditionally made from the agave plant in Mexico. It has a distinct smoky flavor, which is a result of the roasting process that the agave hearts go through before they are distilled. Mezcal is often compared to tequila, which is also made from agave, but while tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in specific regions of Mexico, mezcal can be made from a variety of agave species and in different regions of the country. Mezcal can be enjoyed neat, but it is also used as a key ingredient in a wide range of cocktails.

The Harvey Wallbanger is said to have been invented in 1952 by three time world champion bartender Donato “Duke” Antone at the Blackwatch Bar in Los Angeles. That said, recent reasearch by cocktail writer Robert Simonson indicated that this is probably NOT the genesis of this particular cocktail. Firstly there is no verifiable evidence that a bar called the Blackwatch ever existed and according to Simonson’s research, Antone was living in Connecticut in the time period the drink was supposedly created. Other historians such as David Wondrich posit that it was possibly the marketing team of the McKesson Import Company that have credit for the drink’s creation. In the 1960’s they created a “Harvey Wallbanger” Sandal clad surfer mascot to promote the drink and it is known that a McKesson executive named George Bednar was instrumental in promoting the drink as a means of increasing sales of Galliano. So there you have it, everything we know about the Harvey Wallbanger! Enjoy the drink or at least the video of the drink!
Today I’m showing you three different recipes for the Hot Toddy! The toddy is a style of drinks that predates the cocktail (it’s super old). Original recipes were served both hot and cold, and consisted of a base spirit, sugar, and water. Since then, recipes have evolved to include teas, citrus, and spices. It seems everyone has a go-to recipe, so I thought I’d share mine along with a couple of variations – all tasty, all comforting. Hope you’re all enjoying the new year! Stay cozy, everyone. Cheers!
It’s that time of year again and I’ve got some banging cocktails for you to try! What is my personal favourite of the 5 featured festive cocktails? Hands down the Tom & Jerry! Prepare your batter ahead of time then it’s only a matter of measuring rum, cognac, 2 tablespoons of batter and topping with hot milk! Easy, rich and incredibly flavoursome.
Just as there are 50 classic cocktails everyone should know, there are 50 Modern Cocktails everyone should know, but instead of giving you one big exhaustive episode, we’re going to do these in a series. So sit back and enjoy and if you so desire, mix yourself a drink!
